Hudson Heritage Association offers walking tour guidance with free maps, recorded narration

Hudson Heritage Association encourages residents to take advantage of self-guided walking tours around Hudson’s Historic District. HHA’s four free walking-tour maps – each highlighting the history and structures of a portion of the Historic District – are available at Town Hall, 27 East Main St. The maps can also be accessed at hudsonheritage.org/walking-tours.

In addition, community members can use a smartphone to listen to and walk along with a recorded tour of Hudson’s Historic Village Neighborhood. The hour-long tour, which begins at the Baldwin Babcock House, 47 East Main St., is guided by Christie Borkan, renowned local expert on the architecture of the Western Reserve. Listen to and/or watch the recorded tour by visiting tinyurl.com/hhatour.

“The warm weather has finally arrived, and there’s no better way to take in all of Hudson’s beauty, charm and unique architecture than with a stroll through the village with HHA guiding the way,” says HHA President Chris Bach. “Our maps and recorded tour make a walk through town easier and more enjoyable than ever. They are ready and available whenever you are.”

The glossy, full-color walking-tour maps were made possible by a grant from the Hudson Community Foundation’s Historical and Environmental Fund.

The four tours featured in the maps include:

Tour 1: Main Street and its nearby neighbors.

Tour 2: East Main and Aurora Streets.

Tour 3: Historic Village Neighborhood.

Tour 4: Western Reserve Academy and its neighbors.   For more information, visit hudsonheritage.org.
